WINDOWSPACE-BEEAC
welcomes
MAHMOUD SALAMEH
with a night-time projection of his animation
From Trouble to Trouble, 2015
2-29 February 2016
Mahmoud's statement leaves little more to be said:
"I am a Palestinian-Australian cartoonist,
animation filmmaker and graphic artist based in Sydney. I have years of
international experience working as a professional artist in Syria, Lebanon and
Australia. I worked for well-known Arabic newspapers and magazines such as Al
Safir and Al Adaab, and helped create animation films for Spacetoons and Tiger
Productions. I am passionate about social justice and use art to promote human
rights and cultural understanding. In 2015 I completed the short animation film
From Trouble to Trouble about the
plight of children in Australian immigration detention centres. The powerful
social and political messages in my work address injustices around the world
and my own transnational experiences."
